
Topaz, with its range of colours ranging from golden yellow to deep blue, is the gemstone of November. Known as “the stone of fortune,” topaz was considered a talisman of good luck in antiquity. In ancient Greece and Rome, topaz was associated with the moon goddess, Artemis (or Diana for the Romans). The Romans believed that topaz could protect from danger and strengthen the mind and body. This gem is associated with joy and optimism. The famous Russian empress Catherine the Great was known for her passion for luxury jewellery, and she owned an extensive collection of jewels with topaz. It is said that she often wore topaz on special occasions and court ceremonies. The legendary Empress Elisabeth of Austria, better known as Sissi, was known for her beauty and refined style. It is said that she owned several jewels with topaz, which she wore to complement her elegant dresses.
